Alcohol
For most adults, it's fine to enjoy a drink. At the same time, we all need to look after our health and wellbeing. This is where you can find out more about how to do both. You'll find all kinds of useful information about alcohol and drinking, from fascinating facts to practical tips, to suit all kinds of people and occasions.Drinkaware is supporting the government’s new Know Your Limits awareness campaign.
The website provides information on how to drink safely and to ‘Know Your Limits’. With real life stories, stay safe information and links to other relevant websites, a good night out should never turn into a bad one.
Alcohol Interventions Team (AIT)
The AIT is a non-judgmental service that offers support and advice to anyone over 16 who feels that they may be drinking too much alcohol and may benefit from practical advice and information about safe drinking.
The AIT offers support, information, advice, and signposting to individuals who drink above ’safe’ levels of alcohol. The Team can take referrals from a range of services or as a self referral, and aim to arrange appointments in a location that is accessible for the individual, such as their nearest GP surgery (subject to participation) or health/ community centre.
This service is for anyone over 16 who…
- Feels that they are drinking more than they would like to - perhaps alcohol consumption has increased recently, or increases in certain situations?
- Feels that their drinking is affecting their mental and/ or physical health.
- May have found themselves in a risky or dangerous situation after drinking alcohol.
- Would like more information about local services available
- May have any questions about alcohol issues—perhaps for themselves or someone else they are concerned about.
The AIT understands that there are all sorts of reasons why a person may drink excessively—or binge drink—and the team can support individuals in accessing any other local services that may be needed.
