About us
With all its sea air you’d think Portsmouth would beone of the healthiest places in the UK. But it’s not. Life expectancy in our city is lower than the regional average for both men and women, and it’s mainly caused by vascular disease. Too many people in Portsmouth are having their quality of life reduced and are dying early because of disease of the heart or kidneys, diabetes or stroke.
This is why improving health in Portsmouth has become a top priority for Portsmouth City Teaching Primary Care Trust and Portsmouth City Council, and why we’ve launched the ‘Sort It Portsmouth’ campaign.
Running at different times throughout 2008/9, it’s been created to raise your awareness of health issues, like smoking, alcohol use, weight management, sexual health, healthy living and blood pressure.
You will also be offered practical help by health professionals, who will be on hand in your area to encourage you to reduce your risk factors by making positive, healthy lifestyle choices.
So while Portsmouth may have a life expectancy issue now, together we can sort it for the future.
